The Elven Premier League or Premiership as it called locally, is the top tier of domestic football in Valanora. It is governed by the Valanora Sporting Council and directed by the Valanora Footballing Association. In it's modern incantation, it incorporates the islands of Capri and Vyinta as well as the mainland of Valanora. Before the last reformation of the league pyramid, Vyinta's clubs played in their own separate league and were awarded provisional place in a UICA competition if they won the according playoff(s).

History

The Premiership was formed after the clubs of the former Elven First Division left the league en masse and formed their own league. With the choice of joining the league or having no one to play with, Gladerial United was forced to join, the club whose success and monopoly over the league had forced the clubs actions. At the time of its forming, the Premiership was the top tier of a three tier, thirty-two team pyramid, that has since grown into the pyramid's size today.

Defunct Competitions

Elven First Division

The Elven First Division was the first domestic league in Valanora and was created by the first twelve clubs formed in the nation.

Navy Cup

The Navy Cup is a defunct competition that was a cup comprised purely of teams of the Premiership. It was discarded after the clubs in the Premiership complained of fixture congestion and the lower leagues complained about the unfair nature of additional reward money for clubs already at the top of the pyramid.

V-League

The Vyinta V-league was a league competition for the clubs of Vyinta before they were incorporated into the current league system. It ran through 20,027 to the 20,048 seasons and was heavily dominated by Ibini FC, who won all but one of the seasons, with RC Mercanthum winning the other. The winner of the eight team league faced off against the lowest qualified team for the Globe Cup and if they won that playoff, then against the lowest qualified team for the Champions' Cup. If they won both of these playoffs, they would take the spot in the Champions Cup, if they only won the first then they would be in the Globe Cup, and if they did not win the first then they were not represented in the ICCs unless having won the Silver Cup, as AS Peravova did on two occasions.

International Qualification

The champion of the league and the team that finishes second automatically qualify for the Champions' Cup, while the third and fourth place team automatically qualify for the Globe Cup. For the third allocation spot, the result of the Silver Cup determines who gets it. If the winner of the Silver Cup has already qualified for an international competition, then the fifth place team in the table usually gets the final slot, otherwise the winner of the Silver Cup is awarded that slot. However it has been known to happen on occasion that the runner up of the Silver Cup, if not already qualified themselves, are awarded the slot, or if the winner of the Silver Cup is not in the Premiership. In addition, the champion of the league qualifies for AOCL.
