The Monarchy of Diadochia commonly referred to as the Diadochian monarchy or simply the The Crown. The Diadochian monarchy is nominally a constitutional monarchy by law; however by tradition [it is] a benevolent autocracy or absolute monarchy with a constitution. The Present Diadochian monarch, since 21 December 1964, is Emperor Nicholas VI of Diadochia.

The Diadochian monarchy is among the oldest hereditary monarchies in Pandos as well as the world, having reigned continuously since 930 BC. However the Monarchy in fact even more ancient, goes back even farther to over two thousand years.

Titles and Style

For most occasions a simplified title is used when addressing the emperor. This simplified title is Emperor and Autocrat of all the Diadochians or Emperor of Diadochia. The traditional full title of the Emperor of Diadochia is:

Constitutional rights and privileges

The Emperor of Diadochia, as the head of state of a empire like Diadochia has a number of rights and privileges.

The powers of the Emperor are:

  • Legislative Powers
    • Granting and refusing Imperial Assent to bills
    • Dissolving Parliament
    • Appoint and dismiss the Prime Minister
    • The calling of Elections
  • Executive Powers
    • The Recognition of Foreign states
    • The declaration of war
    • The accreditation of diplomats
    • The making of treaties
    • The deployment of armed forces in Diadochia and abroad
    • The appointment and dismissal of Ministers, Civil servants, and all other government officials
    • The appointment of Ambassadors and all other diplomats
    • The granting of honours, titles, orders, and all other decorations
    • The regulation of the armed forces
  • Judicial Powers
    • The granting of pardons
    • The modifying of judicial sentences
    • The granting of amnesty


Finances

The Diadochian Monarchy is funded in various ways. The Imperial family of Diadochia has at its disposal various types of assets. First there is the Crown properties, that is to say the assets which the Imperial family are entitled to as the ruling dynasty of Diadochia, for example the Imperial Collection and the Imperial Crown Lands fall into this category. Secondly there is State assets which includes Imperial Residences held by the state and the Crown Jewels. Thirdly private assets which are derived from the Komnenos-Palaiologos Support Fund, Duchy of Macedonia, and the Duchy of Bithynia and all other private assets.

The Imperial Crown Lands is the largest property owner in all of Diadochia, with holdings worth 95.8 billion in 2013. The Imperial Crown Lands is held in trust, and cannot be sold or owned by the Sovereign in a private capacity. The profits of the Imperial Crown Lands do not go to the Monarch but are surrendered to the Treasury in return for the Civil List and Grants-in-Aid.

The assets of the Monarch are divided in three main categories, they are:

  • Private Assets
    • Komnenos-Palaiologos Support Fund (Oversees all the private expenses)
    • The Land and assets from the Duchy of Macedonia (Held for the Private Expenses of the Emperor)
    • The Land and assets from the Duchy of Bithynia (Held for the Private Expenses of the Crown Prince)
    • The Empress's Personal Collection

Residences

The Sovereign has two official residences within Atlantis, these are the older Atlantis Imperial Palace and the newer Konstantína Palace. Both of which are the site of most state banquets, investitures, royal christenings and other state ceremonies. Besides this they are the principal winter residence of the Imperial family when they are resident in the capital.

The Blachernae Palace and the Bellehof Palace are very close to the capital and are often used as summer residences. They are both known in Diadochia and abroad as the "Diadochian Versailles", Blachernae is all called the Imperial Showpiece, because of past Emperors need to outdo the monarchs of other realms with huge elaborate shows of imperial pomp and splendor. The town of Kaiservilla is very important to the monarchy because the two palaces located in the area; the baroque Sophienborg Palace was built under the orders of Empress Zoe II of Diadochia and shows the lavishness of her court, while the smaller Augousta Palace had been used for centuries by Empress consorts and Dowager Empresses before being selected as the principal private residence of the Imperial Family.

Another official residence is Komnenos Castle, the largest occupied castle in all of Diadochia, and the ancestral home of the Imperial Family. The castle is used principally at weekends, Easter and during part of the Social Season in Diadochia. The Sovereign's official residence in Magaria is the Loutra Castle in Therma Loutra. The monarch stays at Loutra for at least one week each year, and when visiting Magaria on state occasions. The Sovereign's official residence in Moesia is the Pella Castle in Pella.

Historically, the St Constantine's Palace, the Palace of Magnaura and the Fortress of Saint George were the main residences of the Diadochian Sovereigns began residing more and more at that time the new Atlantis Imperial palace.

Although replaced as the monarch's primary Atlantis residence by Atlantis Imperial Palace and the newer Konstantína Palace, St Constantine's Palace is still the senior palace and remains the ceremonial Imperial residence. For example, foreign ambassadors are accredited to the Court of St. Constantine's. It is also used by other members of the Imperial Family.
