World Bowl V was Hosted by Newmanistan. A new record of 32 teams signed up for the tournement. There ware 8 groups of 4 teams, each playing 6 games vs. teams within thier group, and 4 games against another group to have each team play a total of 10 games. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the World Bowl Playoffs. Before the World Bowl, a Baptism of Iron was held, involving the 12 first-time entrants into the World Bowl. The top two teams after the 2 matches played for the title of B.o.I. champions.
In the Group stages, most of the favorites advanced, along with a couple of suprise teams. The B.o.I Champions, Prux; and Cassadaigua, who went 1-9 at World Bowl IV and Bushdome all made the playoffs at the expense of more established teams such as Green wombat, Greal and Fujisawan Territories, the latter team having the best record amongst non-playoff teams. When the final whistle of the World Bowl blew, the Arroza Tar Hornets won their first title over the Qazox Pheonix. In a stunning upset, of sorts, the 2-time Champions, Dancougar; failed to reach the semifinals for the first time ever.
